Presenting: Brand The Change Academy class 1, 2020
We are super proud of the spectacular talents in our latest cohort for Brand The Change Academy! Hailing from Haiti to New Zealand, from sectors as diverse as development to fashion, ranging from fresh talent to experienced serial entrepreneurs: this class has it all!
Regine Zamor - Haiti/USA
Regine is a Haitian-American social entrepreneur. She is the co-founder of ‘From Waste To Wealth’ a platform that connects people to every stage of the waste transformation cycle, and is a managing partner at Ayiti Nexus, a program development firm in Haiti. Regine read ‘Brand The Change’ from front to back, used the method on all her ventures, and wants to help others do the same.
Floran Derijcke - the Netherlands
Floran has over two decades of experience in the fashion and textile industry. He is convinced that his industry needs to change its ways in order to reverse climate change, and if it does so, holds great potential to change the world for the better. But even sustainable production is still bringing more and more textile and waste into the world. To address this dilemma, he is in the early stages of a new fashion concept that aims to significantly reduces the need for the production of new clothing.
Evy van Weezendonk - Mozambique/Kenya/the Netherlands
Evy is an experienced entrepreneur on the African continent, and has a deep desire to merge her personal environmental ambitions with her professional activities. She is exploring a new venture concept in Kenya, and is using Brand The Change Academy in order to hone the concept, test it, and bring it to life.
James Ngechu - Kenya
As the owner of a brand agency and a communication professional in the not-for-profit space, James knows how how challenging it can be for entrepreneurs and organisations on a small budget, to get the word out about their products and services. He is exploring a new concept that would enable small business owners in Kenya to grow their customer base through emerging tech.
Jonathan Faull - USA/South-Africa
As the communications director of Precision Agriculture, Jonathan is tasked to build the brand and coordinate all communications. Jonathan joins the Academy to get different perspectives and feedback on his work.
Kelcey Braine - UK/New Zealand
A designer originally from the UK, Kelcey is now deeply embedded in the New Zealand startup ecosystem. Building brands for capacity-building organisations are always tough: they are 100% people-driven, the content can be abstract, and the language riddled with jargon. She is using Brand The Change Academy to get different perspectives and feedback on her work, and develop her skillset to work with more impact-focused founders.
Wanjiru Gathanga - Kenya
Wanjiru is a unique combination of talents. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology, and brings that tech perspective into the field of brand and marketing. Wanjiru is a member of Brand The Change Academy to develop a travel brand that provides fair wages to its local operators.
Michelle Chakkalackal - Canada/the Netherlands
As a successful social entrepreneur, Michelle experienced first hand how conflicts and crisis in leadership teams can make or break a company. She now coaches leadership teams to overcome conflicts and get aligned, in order to improve their survival rate and thrive. Through Brand The Change Academy, she is building her company’s brand.
