This month we’re taking our meetups online.
Let’s put our brains together to help a change-making organization adapt their business to the new reality created by the COVID crisis. This meetup is set up to give a change-making organisation lots of practical ideas and feedback.
For anyone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved to execute these ideas, we call on you to join a self-organizing ‘Crisis Coalition’ after the event.
The case: Sauti Academy
Sauti Academy is a vocal school in Nairobi, Kenya, that helps amateurs and aspiring artists to express themselves authentically through music and/or build a sustainable career in the music industry. Sauti has an incredible track record for launching talent to the big stage in East-Africa.
With Kenya under lockdown, it is impossible for the Sauti Academy team to operate, leaving their students and instructors stranded at home. Because the vast majority of the income comes from classes, every week without classes is a threat to their existence. At the same time, the crisis offers Sauti Academy a real opportunity. If they succeed in taking their offer online, they have a chance at growth, expanding their services outside of Nairobi to the region, and potentially, the world.
The Brief
The Sauti Academy team has a new menu of online services ready, but needs support to 1) clarify their (online) offer, 2) set up the online platforms and 3) get the word out to their audiences.
We’re calling on brand strategists, creatives, video editors, copywriters, musicians, and business minds to join us to brainstorm ideas for each of these questions in breakout groups.
If this session gets you excited to do more, Sauti Academy is asking you to get involved in the execution. Join the self-organising Crisis Coalition with Sauti, and volunteer 4 hours of your time to work together to bring the academy online in the next two weeks.
