community

Strong communities stand and fall by trust. As community members, we're holding each other to a social contract that guards this trust.

Respect creator's rights. Content published on the community is (unless otherwise indicated) considered the intellectual property of the person who posted it. You cannot re-use, share or otherwise make available content on the community platform elsewhere without the permission of the person who made the post.

Try to give and take in equal measure. Everyone has something to learn and something to teach. The only way we can make this an effective learning community, is when all members feel their contributions to the group matter. When we receive the gift of someone else's input, we can give back by paying it forward with our own feedback to community questions.

Be a cheerleader. If someone shares something that is of value to you, let them know! Credit them! Applaud them! In turn, they will be your cheerleader too.

Say your problem out loud. Let's get into the habit of having the courage to say our problems out loud. Only then can we become unstuck. Asking for feedback is not just 'taking': it's giving too. You are allowing others to share their point of view.

Be careful with confidential information. If you want to share questions that touch on confidential information, 'anonymize' it, or clearly label it as confidential. When you see another member share a piece of information that seems confidential, assume it is so. Before sharing the stories or work of other members beyond this community, it is always wise to ask for permission.

Respect intellectual property. Please don't share any materials (video, book texts, pdfs, etc) on this platform that you are not authorized to share. If you share materials here for which you are not authorized, you will be held accountable and removed from the network. Please also respect Brand The Change's intellectual property, and don't share our materials beyond this group.

You're welcome to self-promote, but don't spam people. We love it when people promote their own work on BTC. It could be a project, publication, website, or post. But please don't do that more than once a week. If despite keeping to this guideline, other members find your contributions distracting, you could be asked to stop the posts and/or leave the community. Please note it's against our privacy policy to collect personal information from members for your own marketing purposes.

We recognize that 'change' means different things to different people. When we talk about advancing ideas/products or services for change, we are talking about change as outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals. But all of us have a different focus area or ideas about priorities. To someone in Sweden, it could be the global switch to a plant-based diet. To someone in Kenya, it could be the growth of the economy, and availability of jobs.

Be open to different perspectives. We consciously host people with a wide range of geographic, cultural, religious, political, and professional backgrounds. We don't want to be just an echo chamber. We're happy to host conversations where different perspectives are exchanged. We can be like-spirited, but we don't have to be like-minded. Constructive conflict is healthy in a community.

Zero tolerance for trolls, sexists, fascists, racists, and bullies. They will be removed, their license revoked and they will not receive a refund. If you experience any harassment on the platform, please report it ASAP to our hosts at hello@brandthechange.org

Be open about your intentions. If you are not here to learn or contribute, but to do market research, or to copy content to distribute elsewhere, we want to know. Not because we forbid it outright, but because people come here and contribute to a shared knowledge source based on trust. When that trust is misused people can feel violated. If you think your presence here falls outside of learning and contribution, please email us (hello@brandthechange.org) to discuss.
